Late Rains

At last there has been some rain and probably more up country to the North, for on the 20th the West River began to rise, and to date has risen about five fect. This ends the concern of the steamer captains as to whether they will just be able to cross the bar or not. Now the rice will be able to be planted. This rain and rise of the river is fully six weeks late this year.
