Persistent German Attacks

Petrograd, Dec. 16.

In the direction of Mlawa the enemy has been thrown back towards the frontier.

On the left bank of the Vistula the Germans pers istently attacked the whole day, advancing from Kiernozia towards Sochaczew. We were forced to repulse these attacks in an unfavourable position and retired slightly in the evening.

the remaining points of this front our counter-attacks held the enemy to his positions and prevented him advancing into the region of the main action.

Our tactics have stopped the advance of the Austrians over the Carpathians.

There was no change elsewhere.
