Business Prosperity

Chenchou seems to be enjoying more than an average amount of business prosperity notwithstanding the lack of rice, The river was never quite so full of small boats as now. The probable reason is the high water at prosont and the very low water during the late summer. During August and carly September few boats were seen on the river between Huayaping and Chenchou. There was an occasional load of goods that had to be transported and in these instances as many as thirty men were needed to pull the boats over the rapids.
