The old Jardine's boat, the Eldorado, long known on the China coast, has been in port under the Swedish flag vast cargo, of machinery for mint in Szechuan. The pieces are far too heavy to be properly dealt with by the rade native methods of transhipment which are used here, but they have somohow managed to get the pieces on shore. As there are no duplicates, it soams essential to the snecoss of the under-tuking that no parts be lost, but us they have to be taken ap west in native junks, many parts will doubtless find their final resting-piaed at the bottom of the Yangtze.
official at the above-mentioned forst told me this difficulty would be met very mply. The Szechuan Viceroy would just send down again to the coast for all parts found wanting, so Chengtu may probably expect to have its mint in working order after the millennium.
