After a dreary of rain the weather cleared up on was blessed with gi balmy breezes. A more stiitable slay the inspection of the Volunteer Corps could not have been chosen, and it is satisfactory to note that the appearance and efficiency of the men on the parade ground were completely in harmony with the beauty of the day As a preliminary to the aft German and A" Compani photo graphed in the Cathedral compound by an enterprising Chinaman. ' Each company kept a steady line and unbroken forma: tion, each company of infantry, with the exception of the German, passing at the same step. The band slowed down to How the German infantrymen to pass with their goose step movement, and quickened again for the Artillery and Light Horse. As one of the guns of the Artillery yot opposite the saluting point one of the leading horses got restive and plunged and kicked in a dangerous way.
