Destruction at Foochow

Frum Our Own Correspondent, Foochow, Sept. 18.

The typhoon that struck Foochow yesterday is the heaviest known since the year 1909. Numerous junks been sunk, but other shipping Residences have been damaged, walls blown down, telephone and telegraph lines disconnected. The damage to foreign hongs, however, was for the most part small, and there has been little loss of life.

Four inches of rain have fallen in twenty-four hours, at Kuliang, and the people's cottages have suffered greatly.
