2n_ explosion took place in the engineering department of the Naval Yard at Hongkong on the 6th instant, as & result o° which, two Chinese workmen were seriously injured. A land and deep explosion was heard in the] W' chief en.ineer's department and on investigation it was fonnd that a cast steel cylinder used for storing compressed air or other gases, had exploded.
