Great interest has been aroused in Society by the announcement of the betrothal of the Duke of Saxe-Coburg to the Princess Victoria-Adelaide of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonder-burg-Glicksburg. The Prince is, of course, our Duke of Albany, the post-humanns sow and heir of Queen Victoria's youngest son, and the Princess is a niece of the German Emperor. The heir-presumptive of the Dukedom, as settled after the various renunciations, is Prince Arthur of Connaught, who, of course, had a prior right to the succession. He preferred however, "to remain an Englishman," and although in default of other heirs he consented to accept the reversion of the Ducal Throne he will probably not feel any regret if a cousin.
