News has been received by the American Consul-General here of the murder on Wednesday. at Lienchon, on the North River, in the Province of Knangtung, of four American missionaries and one child' connected with the American Presbyterian Mi The names of those reported killed are as follows Miss Eleanor Chesnut, M.D. who commenced medical work for women at Lienchou. in. 1893, Mrs, Machel (and child) who arrived in China in 1889, and the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Beale, who had only recently arrived in this country. Dr. Chesnut was in " riot in the same province some time ago. No particulars of the massacre have as yet; come to hand, and it is not. known what: was the immediate cause of the outbreak, or whether it is to be attributed to anti-foreign or anti-Christian feelings.
