We understand that the firm of Messrs. Bruce, Peebles & Ca., Ld. has gone into liquidation. It has been known for some time past that the firm has been suffering from undercapitaliza—tion, which has handicapped it in respect of the large contracts that it now has on hand. Although no definite information on the subject has reached Shanghai, it is presumed that no time will be lost in reconstructing the Gompany. Of course this temporary embarrassment will not affect local tramway constraction or the fulfilment of other contracts in hand.
