ANNUAL REPORT

The " Victoria Park" at Chinkiang, which consists of about five acres of ground, is situated about a mile to the' south of the Concession, and was primarily the result of s desire of the residents to perpetuate by some fitting memorial the Jubilee of her late Majesty, Queen Victoria, and it has been entirely kept up by voluntary subscription since that year. It is laid out with tennis courts and croquet ground and has s good football field and a small pavilion; it affords healthy recreation ground for the residents, and is st the disposal of the crews of men-of-war and merchan' ships visiting this port, who avail themselves of this privilege to no small extent. With the connecting link that now binds Chinkiang and Shanghai we may hope for more frequent visits from those of your residents who hava the time to spare, and who wish for the purer air of the country.

The Committes is engaged in laying out a wide road, which will ultimately connect the railway station and the park, and will afford easy access to the recreation grounds.

The trustees of the ground are the British Consul and the Chairman of the Municipal Council for the time being, and the up-keep the ground and games is entrusted to Committee of seven members chosen at the annual general meeting, of which the two trustees are ¢x-officio members.
