During the quarter two strong and capacious bucket dredgers, the donia and Rhenania, arrived from Holland in tow of sea-going tugs. One hopper suction dredger, the Cyclop, made the voyage under its own steam arriving about the same time. One more bucket dredger and another suction dredger of the same capacity left Amsterdam for Shanghai on December 15 last. Working her way- downward this dredger follows the other one so that the first cutting through the Junk channel shallows will be about 500 feet wide and fifteen feet deep at low water.
