Peking, Feb. 17.
An official statement issued by the Waichiaopu this morning, the text of a telegram from Washington, concludes with an expression of regret from the Chinese Delegates that the results for China of the Pacific Conference were not up to the expectations of the Chinese people, but points out that taking into consideration the position China has held among the Powers "for several tens of years," the results, which were owing to the mediation of friendly Powers and competent handling of China's case by the Delegates and the assistance given to the Delegation by the official departments in China, give the Chinese people an opportunity to work together for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the country.
