The official communique issued this evening states:
The operations on the 16th were favourable to us on the whole front.
There was an artillery duel in Bel-south of Ypres, are of @ certain number of trenches, where there has been sharp fighting for the past few days.
Between the Oise and the Aisne, near Bailly. our artillery effective ly bombarded the enemy's convoys and gatherings of troops.
We made progress in the Reims sector, near Loivre. We captured three kilometres of trenches and several hundred prisoners north. west of Porthos and to the north of Beau Sejour, in Champagne.
There wera infantry actions in the Argonne. Between Four-de-Paris and Boureuilles fighting con. tinues favourably. Ws captured several blockhouses in Bois lo Pre-tre, northwest of Pon'
