Thre was a sensational affray carly this morning in the West Point district, Four Chinese, after robbing a Chinese cafe, were accosted by a police patrol and ordered to stop and be searched.
In reply, the robbers fired on the police and' killed Sgt. Thomas Ma' re mahon, In the ensuing running gun-battle the desperadoes killed an Indian policeman and two Chinese conind wounded another Indian n and a third Chinese constable, The patrol killed one of the robbers and seriously wounded another.
A poste of detectives are now combing out the district.
