Times Literary Supplement

No. 1844, Saturday, June 5, 1937 this new manual is practical and useful, and what Count Kabayama in his prefactory note calls its "human method" will make it acceptable to ihe growing number of English students of Japanese. When the student has mastered its sixty lessons he will have completed the equivalent of an ordinary Japanese school education and will be at home in the language and able to proceed to higher things, A feature of the book is its transliteration with Chinese characters of every Japanese example rendered in English spelling so that the student is gradually familiarized with the appearance of the language as well as with its sound.
