A small calibre anti-aircraft shell, evidently fired at a Chinese plane by one of the Japanese warships in the Whangpoo, fell at the corner of Avenue Joffre and Route des? Soeurs at 1135 p.m. on Sunday. Fortunately no one was injured, although a party of French Police Specials were on duty only fifteen feet from where the shell landed, making a small hole in the roadway.
Another anti-aircraft shell fell at the corner of Route des Soeurs and Rue Ratard shortly before midnight, but again no one was injured. The shell fragments were taken to police headquarters and pieced together to ascertain their origin.
