Japanese Landing?

Hongkong, Sept. 13.

Hongkong was agog this afternoon with the news that the Japanese had effected a landing at Bias Bay yesterday after bombarding several fortified positions in the vicinity.

Unconfirmed Chinese reports state that there is considerable concentra-lion of Japanese vessels, including three crffisers, which have effected landing operations.

British Naval authorities are unable to confirm these reports for the present, but admit the likelihood of their accuracy.

Meanwhile, the Japanese objective, well-informed quarters believe, is. the occupation of intermediate points along the Chinese section of the Canton-Kowloon Railway, thus pré- venting the transport of supplies from Hongkong to the interior—Reuter.
