Only Mishap

The only mishap they ever had was to lose a spar. Asked if they had ever been aground or anything ike that, Mrs, Fahnestock said, they were not that sort of navigators, The number of the crew was reduced as the cruise progressed as all members of the party proper were interchange-fable at the various navigating posts.

There is no such thing as a beachcomber any more in the South Soa islands, People who go down think-Ing they can live on breadfruit or off the natives, find that they cannot, /Mr, Fahnestock continued. To got 10 the Islands in a steamer, you have to have a round-trip ticket, he said. He added that unless one is able to move around freely in a private ves~ sel, the South Seas are not much fun, fauickly growing monotonous.
