BERLIN BOURSE

Berlin, Jan. 4.

The share market opened to-day in a firm tone and increased trading resulted from the resumption of buying operations on part of bank customers largely motived by a return of confidence. This resumed buying activity took the form of genuine investments and was in part an Outcome of the fact that the money market reported growing liquidity although a good deal of the available capital will undoubtedly be absorbed by new loan emissions. Much interest was aroused on the exchange by the latest pronouncements of Dr. Schacht and also by encouraging reports on the position of the German shipping lines. Mining and machine construction shares as well as a number of specialties benefited most from the present upward trend which in some instances amounted to as much as 3 per cent.

Call money stood at 3% to 3% oer cent.—Trans-Ocean.
