The daily average gross crude oil production in the United States for the week ended January 22 totalled 3,506,000 barrels, according to the weekly report of the American Petroleum Institute of New - York, published to-day.

This compares with 3,477,000 barrels last week and 3,205,000 barrels for the corresponding period of last year, showing decreases of 29,000 barrels and 301000 barrels respectively, compared with the figure for the week under review.—Reuter.

London, Jan. 26.

Messrs.

Samuel Montag and Company, in their weekly bullion letter, write:—To-day's recovery in the silver market was mainly due to the absence of selling.

During the week under review Indian Bazaars and speculators covered, but there was also some speculative re-selling and, further sales on Continental account.

Tt seems that price movements in the immediate future will keep within narrow limits—ReVter.
