The city has been divided by the Peace Preservation Commission, for administrative purposes, into five districts.
These are: I. District east of Taping, Paisha and Chunghwa Roads, where 60,000 people now reside; 2. Area west of Chunghwa and Chusheng Roads and south of Hansi Road, with 60,000 inhabitants; 3. district east of Chungshan Road, where 8000 people live; 4. The so-called Safety Zone, whose population now reaches 15000; and 5. Area outside the walled city and Hsiakwan, whose population was put by the daily at 2,000.
