The big rugger attraction this weekend will be the Spunt Cup semi-final match between the Shanghai Rugby Union Football Club's Ist XV and the US. Marines 2nd XV which is to begin at 3.15 pin. on Saturday. It is the only Spunt Cup match of the five games to be played over the week-end. The winners of this match will meet the Durham Light Infantry ist XV in the final at a later date.
The powerful attack of the Ma-ines Ist XV last week-end when they swept the Durham 2nd XV out of their path by the overwhelming score of 24-nil indicated that the Club would have a big job, perhaps too big a job, on their hands on Saturday next. The "Leathernecks" will outweigh the civilians by a wide margin and this combined with their speed and very obvious will to win, will tax the skill of the Club to the extreme.
The other game on Saturday, to begin at 315 p.m. will see the Club's 3rd XV pitted against Area Details.
An interesting match should develop on Sunday when the Durhams' 2nd XV face the U.S. Marines 2nd XV, starting at 215 p.m. On the basis of past performances. the Marines should win by a fair margin, for they lost the Durhams 1st XV by only 6-nil lo the Durhams 2nd were given little chance against the senior Marine The other games on Sunday will see the Club 2nd XV meeting a DLI. team and the French Army opposing another D.L.I. XV.
Following are the fixtures and Club teams for the week-end.
