TITLE TO NOVA — San Francisco's Fighter Beats Lee Ramage

Los Angeles, Mar. 1. Lou Nova of San Francisco and Oakland retained the California State heavyweight championship tonight by gaining a hairline decision from Lee Ramage of San Diego.

It was a hard-fought tussle, with Nova, who has been showing improved form in recent months, taking a thin edge in the majority of rounds, although many fans thought a draw would have been more to the point.

Considered a "white hope" a few years ago, the Irish-American Ramage failed to come up to his former standard, although both fought with a will and the bout was marked by hard exchanges.

The winner entered the ring at 198, while Ramage tipped the beam at 195.—United Press.
