Lithuanian Offer Rejected

Paris, Mar. 18.

The Polish Note, which reached the Lithuanian Government at 10 p.m., contains six demands. The Cabinet met immediately after receiving the Note.

The Polish Government rejected the Lithuanian, Government's proposal for the appointment of a mixed Commission to study the frontier question. This proposal, stated the Polish Government, would give insufficient guarantees for the maintenance of peace in the future. Moreover, the Polish Government demanded that the appointment of a Lithuanian representative to Warsaw be made before March 31.—Reuter.

Mr. C. R, Attlee, Leader of the Labour Opposition, asked if it was not now clear that this was directed with a view to terrorizing the civilian population and not for any military objective.

The Prime Minister replied: "The statement I have just read, which comes from the Minister, does not contain anything to that effect. Reports which I have seen in the pre: however, do appear to describe the damage as having been done largely to living quarters and not to military objectives,"—Reuter.
