To the Editor of the "Nosrz-CHiNA Dany NEWS"
Sm—In view of the fact that the Municipal Orchestra will be retained ior another year, I trust it will not be inopportune to request Maestro Paci to include oftener in the concerts such pieces as "Poet and Peasant," "William Tell" "Zampa," "Invitation to the Waltz "Blue Danube" "Unfinished Symphony," "Hungarian Rhapsody," etc.
It will be recalled that in the recent film "Hundred Men and a Girl" the picture was well patronize ed, partly owing to the popularity of the leading actress and partly to the musical background. Among the pieces rendered in the film were "Unfinished Symphony" and "Zampa," which contributed in ne small degree to the success of th film.
I would suggest, therefore, that a concert be held tentatively, in order to ascertain whether the adoption of popular pieces in the programme would be instrumental in promoting a larger attendance at the concert: or not.
In conclusion, I wish to mention that this letter is not written to criticize the manner in which Maestro Paci has handled the Orchestra in the past, but in the hope that pieces cited in the first paragraph will be played oftener in future concerts.
