The heroism and dutifulness demonstrated by all staff members and workers on various government railways since the beginning of hostilities have won the praise of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek who in a message to Mr. Chang Kia-ngan, Minister of Railways, asked that they be fittingly commended.

The Generalissimo was particularly appreciative of the calmness and fortitude of the railway staff workers during repeated Japanese air raids, He also took cognizance of their efficiency in affixing repairs to damaged tracks and in enabling prompt resumption of the train service—Central News.
