LAW ARISES

French Club Appeals Against Consular Court Ruling An appeal has been lodged by the French Club with the Court of Saigon against the decision of the French Consular Court which declared. the suspension of membership of Mr. Carl Foss to be null and avoid. According to French law, any appeal suspends the effects of the judgment, and both parties are placed in the same situation as they were before the judgment was given.

The suspension of Mr. Foss expires on October 27, and although the judgment ordered that he be reinstated immediately, the committee of the French Club maintains that the judgment has no effect owing to the appeal, and has notified Mr. Foss that he has no right to appear in the club before October 27. Mr, Foss, through M. Paul Premet, his counsel, has notified the club that he cannot comply with their request, stating that he has the right te appear in the club. Until the committee obtained a court ruling that he was not permitted in the club, he would continue to make his appearance there.
