Clayton Opens Scoring

Naylor took the ball forward and placed to Whiteing who dribbled forward and shot, Kabbert again fumbled and Clayton making no mistake on this occasion netted after 18 minutes' play.

Both sides raided in turn and shots were more often directed past the post than towards the keeper, Wailey and Petterson being the biggest sinners. Then a breakaway saw Petterson get away. The ball bounced badly for him in the goal area, and was turned\behind him and just in front of keeper, and Freddy Foyn, running in, netted after 29 mins. play.

Taylor worked the ball inwards and hit the post with a strong shot to see the rebound missed by a number of players on both sides. Gi wood feared and sent to Foyn, but "atlin held up the winger.

A free kick against Ellis for carrying was easily dealt with by Ellis, Petterson shooting straight at the keeper. Half-time arrived with the score equal.

The wind in the second half changed round to again favour the Saints who immediately attacked. Catlin cleared to see Taylor go ahead, passing to Kenyon who, after beating three opponents, continued to dribble instead of shooting and Borodin dispossessed him.

Much of the failure of the Loyalis] to score was due to the dismal efforts of Duffie, ninety per cent of his ipasées going straight to Borodin, whilst Kenyon seem to be afraid to shoot from a distance.
