DAMASCUS FLOODS

Villages Swept Away Bodily, 10,000 Homeless Damascus, Oct. 31.

Over 1,000 are dead and 10,000 homeless as a result of floods in the countryside north-east of Damascus, where villages have been swept away bodily. Sheik Youssef. Chancellor of King Ibn Sand, left Damascus on Thursday for Baghdad, and it is feared that he has perished, as he has completely disappeared.

Damascus is the chief town of Syria, and on three sides of it rise the heights of Anti-Lebanon, whence comes the Harada River.—Reuter,
