The black'hand of Chinese terrorists yesterday cast its shadow over the official residence of the Japanese Consul-General, Seymour and Weihaiwei Roads.
A crudely constructed incendiary bomb was discovered at about 12.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the garden of the residence by a Japanese consular policeman on patrol. The bomb failed to explode.
This was the first missile of its kind thrown into a Japanese official establishment since the outbreak of hostilities.
The missile consisted of glass fragments and phosphorus, packed in a Ruby Queen cigarette tin with a small load of explosives.
The bomb was regarded by police authorities as too weak to cause bodily harm.
Officials investigating the case were inclined to link it with the incident which occurred at 830 am, at the home of Mr. Koo Shing-ili, 102 Avenue clu Roi Albert. Both missiles were of similar construction and had identical contents it was learned.
