In the babies' ward, pastel bassinettes and miniature tables and chairs of wicker were made-up ready for small occupants with silk quilts over gay coloured woollen blankets printed with bunnies, cats, dogs and animals to delight any child. The quilts were ruined for sale by shrapnel which destroyed the front of the Wing On Company at the time of the Sincere Company bombing, and the former store was kind enough to donate the damaged articles for the hospital Not content with having warm quilts, the ladies patched the torn places, and covered the holes with dainty rosettes and flowers of silk.
