Although the Shanghai Open Basketball League and the International Series are abandoned this year owing to the inability of the China National Amateur Athletic Federation to conduct such events, the 1937-38 season in this city lost none of its colour in the history of the game in view of the great success achieved in the Foreign Y.M.C.A. Invitation League which came to a close exactly one week ago.
With the completion of the Inter-Regimental Series between the two rival U.S. Marine teams last Friday night, when the "Galloping Sixth" won the "Fighting Fourth" by a game score of two to one, the local hoop season has officially ended. Had the Sixth Regiment not been ordered to leave on February 18 there could have been a longer season because the Foreign "Y" has had the intention of running a Double Elimination Tournament in view of the success of ihe Invitation League in having many outstanding circumstances towards the latter part of the competition when thrills and excitement were aplenty.
