The Queen, whose speech meaked the opening of the new session of the Stage-General, said that. the government would promote international trade by treaties of a wider scope than heretofore.
She declared that the government would also be mindful of averting the dongers now threatening the markets for Netherlands produce, contained in tariff measures imposed by other countries.—Reuter.

After the speech from the throne was delivered, Communist members rose in a body and_ shouted: "Down with the Crown, Down with the Queen!" While they were removed forcefully by the ushers, all the other members of both Houses stood up and spontaneously sang the national anthem.
Outside the historic Riddersaal, Where the opening ceremony. of Parliament took place, the Communists had also prepared a riot, which was however soon suppressed, as all available police forces were immediately called out.
For the protection of the process sion of the Queen, the Prince Consort, and their entourage on the way back to the Royal Castle after the ceremony, the police were reinforced by a large body of soldiers.—- Trans-Ocean Kuo Min.
