Boston Ice Hockey Men Now Seem Certain Winners Boston, Feb. 20.
The Boston Bruins definitely shook off the challenge of the New York Rangers, beating the Blueshirts for the second time this week to-night, 3-2, in the National Ice Hockey League.
One of the season's largest crowds cheered the home team to a brilliant victory over the second place Rangers. Only two days ago, the leaders of the American Division triumphed over the Blueshirts at Madison Square Garden, also by 3 goals to 2, but only after an overtime session. It was the first defeat suffered by the Rangers on home ice in ten starts.
The victory of the Bruins completely shattered what little hopes the Rangers had of overtaking their bitter rivals, for the Boston squad increased their lead to seven points.
"With the season shortly reaching its final stages, the Bruins seem certain of finishing first in the American Division and taking the favoured position in the Stanley Cup play-off series for the National championship.
