Paris, Mar. 11.
M. Leon Blum, who headed the firs, Popular Front Government in France, has begun consultations to form a new Cabinet.
He is expected to be bitterly opposed by the Centre and Right parties in the Chamber of Deputies and also by most Senators, especially if he has to ask for the same plenary powers which M. Chautemps required.
M. Blum's consultations are expected to last two days. He has already interviewed M. Eduard Daladier, without whose support a Socialist government would be impossible, but the Radicals are unlikely to allow Communists in the Cabinet. 3 Many Socialists believe M. Blum is being manoeuvres so that he must form a purely Socialist government which will be rapidly overthrown to make way for a National Government.
The situation at present is too bewildering for any reasonable forecast of the outcome.—Reuter.
