A statement has been issued by the French Concession authorities, according to the Chinese press, to the effect that they will adopt attitude similar to that of the Shanghai Municipal Council in reation to the factory inspection question, A translation of the statement, follows:
"The attitude of the French Cone cession authorities towards the Chinese Government's demand for factory inspection in the Settlement is similar to the International Settlement officials. The French Muni. jeipal Council has been authorised to undertake the work of factory me spection within its territory, "Before the promulgation by the Chinese Government of its' Factor Inspection Regulations, the Trend Concession authorities alveedy published a series of regulations for the control of factories in its territory. 'According to these, persons. inten ing to establish a' new factory the Concession must first apply to the French Municipal Council" for permission, The Council would not give its permission unless it) was satisfied at the health and fire pre vention arrangements of the proposed factory.
"Should the Chinese Government consider that the regulations of the French Concession ave not. entirely in conformity to the provisions of its Factory Inspection Law, the French Concession authorities are sady to negotiate with the Chinese officials in a spirit of friendship, for the purpose of making the neces~ workpeople- and fulfilled the Council's requirements, They were in a the cash for its own? was loudly cheered.
