Czech-Magyar Talks Resuming

Germany Recommending Ethnic Basis for Solution; Budapest Not Satisfied But Drop Polish Scheme

Prague, Oct. 21.

ELL-INFORMED circles here understand that the negotiations between Czechoslovakia and Hungary will be resumed next week in a neutral town, perhaps Vienna.

These circles believe that a suggestion to thi effect was lade by the German Foreign Minister, Herr Joachim von Ribbentrop, when he received the Slovak Premier and two Slovak Ministers two days ago. The Hungarians themselves are not against resuming on neutral ground the negotiations broken off recently at Komarno.

During the recent visits to Germany by Dr. Koloman de Daranyi, former Hungarian Premier, and the Slovak Ministers, Prague and Budapest, through the medium of Germany, are said to have reached an agreement on the delimitation of the frontiers, in accordance with the ethnological principle.

The basis of the negotiations would be the present language frontiers with a few modifications being made for economic reasons.

The new delimitation of the Czech-

Hungarian frontier would then correspond to the plan submitted at Komarno by the Slovak del n, consisting of a grant to.

5,784 square kilometres with ai population of 395,000.

At the Berchtesgaden interview, Herr von Ribbentrop is said to have insisted upon a speedy settlement of the Slovak-Hungarian question.
