Around the World

Community singing, led by Miss Stella Meyers and Mrs. W. Hathaway at the piano was joined in heartily by the entire gathering before Miss Jeanne B. Perkins, Secretary of the International Y.W.C.A., gave a short description of her recent trip around the world, and related the interest shown by club women in other countries in activities of the business girls of Shanghai. Most of these sent greetings through Miss Perkins and their good wishes for the continued progress of the club. Among special messages read were those from the World's Y.W.C.A. office at Geneva, from headquarters of the Y.W.C.A. at New York, from Honolulu, Manila and many others. Events of the past eight months have given special prominence to the dwellers in Shanghai, and Miss Perkins' recent visit stimulated additional interest, for she was able to tell them much of normal conditions in Shanghai, and the aspirations of the business girls in this city.

A recent arrival from Peiping gave sri exquisite rendering of an aria from a Chinese opera to the appre-dative audience. This item was arranged by the Y.W.C.A. Business Girl Club.
