More at home on a harcourt, Mrs. W. J. C. Fletcher, former Hongkong singles champion, scored a fine victory over Mrs. B. Krenov by 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 yesterday in the final of the Women's Singles Championship at the Cercle Sportif Francais. In a previous meeting in the SITA. Championships Mrs. Fletcher was defeated by Mrs. Krenov.
The harcourt champion gained her passage to the final by disposing Mrs. Lewis Byron in a match in the morning (by 6-3). She wes very steady in the whole day's play, specially against Mrs. Krenov in the second set which she won at love.
The match started with Mrs. Fletcher losing the first game on service. She broke Mrs. Krenov's service and went on to win on her second serve for a 2-1 lead. In the fourth game Mrs. Krenov drove deeply to both Corners of the court and outplaced the former Hongkong star. Through persistent attacking, Mrs. Krenov reeled off five games in a row and captured the set.
