To the Editor of the "Norti-Cumva Dairy News"
Sir,—Newspaper correspondence coupled with personal observation provide convincing proof that, unless prompt action is taken, the increasing number of corpses stored in "depots" and spread over various areas will rapidly make their presence felt.
Cremation is the obvious solution. Out of curiosity I have ascertained the views of what, I imagine, would constitute a fair cross-section of the Chinese community:
Four servants working in four different houses.
Four employees working in four different' shops.
Four assistants working in four different banks.
Four Chinese taipans.
Out of the sixteen, fifteen were emphatically in favour of cremation under existing conditions. The sixteenth was open to conviction and fully agreed with the suggestion when told "hat during active service Mohammedan soldiers were absolved from their yearly fast.
It these opinions really represent the feelings of local Chinese, cannot necessary action be taken at the earliest possible date?
