Dr. Kung at Inauguration Meeting Shanghai, Oct, 10.
Dr. LIH, Kung, Finance Minister presided over a meeting of leading Jocal Chinese at the General Chamber of Commerce, North Soochow Road, yesterday afternoon, when the formal inauguration took place of the relief commission for the drought+ stricken provinces.
Among those present were Messrs. Tu Vu-sen, prominent merchant French Concession, K. H. Lin, general secretary of the Chinese Bankers Association, Wang T-ting, philantrobist, Chang Hsiao-tin, Vu Ye-ching, and Wen Lan-ting.
In the course of his speech, the Finance Minister drew attention to the seriousness, of this year's drought in the various provinces and emphasized the importance of the ofanization of a committee to push on the relic! work.
The total arca affected by drought this year was estimated at 140/00,000 mow while millions of people in various provinces suffered, according fo information of charitable bodies.
