The Dragon Boat feast approaches, and there is considerable activity in getting the boats ready for tne Faces. Already some trial races have been rowed. Last year the aces were popular and the revival of many of the old customs connected with the fifth month feast were restored. Siangtan has*.had come very sad experiences in the past, and many drownings occurred, so that the Faces were prohibited for some years. The competition promises to be keen this year.
