Denial of Purchases of Congress Conflicts Planes in Europe The coming Fifth National Congress of the Kuomintang is occupying the attention of the Kuomintang veterans of the South-west, because the Congress is likely to dissolve the South-west Political Council and the Kuomintang South-west Executive Committee. Without these two organs, the independent status of the South-west will collapse.
In an effort to dominate the congress, the members of the Kuomintang Central Executive Committee in Kuangtung and Kwangsi have joined fan alliance with the C.E.C. members in Shanghai. Three representatives of the Shanghai CEE. members came South and reached an understanding with their colleagues in the two Kuang provinces.
"These three men are Lieut.-Gen.
Chang Ting-fan, former Mayor of the Municipality of Greater Shanghai, Mr. Chen Ka-yau and Mr. Chen Chung-fu, They will return today to Shanghai. They called on Mr. Hu Han-min for final instructions to bring ack to the Shanghai members.
Canton, Aug. 4.
General Wong Kwong-jul, Commander-in-Chief of the Cantonese Alr Force, returned here to-day from his tour abroad which took him to the United States, Great Britain and the Continent. He was greeted by a large number of officers attached to the local air force and military headquarters. General Wong headed an Air Commission which toured Europe and the US.
Interviewed, General Wong said he had been greatly impressed by aviation "developments in the United Stales, Britain, France, Italy and Germany, and would utilize his observations as a guide to developing Chinese military aviation.
He denied, however. the report that while abroad he had purchased a number of planes on behalf of the South-west Government. General Wong declared that his mission had been only for the purpose of studying aviation conditions in America and Burope—Reuter.
