Thomas' Long Runs

Sayle started, the ball rolling in the first few minutes, after a. good run, by going over for an unconverted try. Five minutes later Stapleton-Cotton duplicated the feat for Lucas to add two further points for the conversion. Before half-time, Thomas secured from a set-scrum, and selling a beautiful dummy, put through to place the ball under the posts. The kick failed.

Thomas then finished off a fine effort that was started by Reynolds and continued by Gammie, these players gaining sixty yards in two excellent runs. Thomas' try was again not bettered.

Then Fabian, after a fine run down the left wing, plunged over the line for another unconverted try, while in the closing minutes, Thomas, with one of the finest efforts seen in Shanghai this year, made a 55 yards run that took. him clean through his opponents, Selling dummy after dummy and using his speed and change of pace to great advantage he made his way through the defence before it quite realized what was happening.
