Paris, Jan. 15.
The defence of communication lines between France and her African colonies as well as trans-Atlantic communication lines will be the theme of the naval manceuvres which are to commence on January 18. These manceuvres will coincide with the spring cruise of the British Home Fleet.
The movements of the two fleets will be carried out simultaneous! the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
The similarity in exercises of the two fleets indicates that the problem of al and trans-Atlantic com" munication lines in time of war "is considered particularly important at present, The French squadron in the Mediterranean will cruise alongrthe North African coast, while the Atlantic squadron will' head in the direction of the Azores, later touching at Casablanca, where it will be joined by the former after the termination of exer-rises along the Tunisian coast.
