Paris Comments on Move

Paris, Feb. 3.

Competent quarters here consider the rupture of diplomatic relations between Hungary and Soviet Russia as pressure being exerted upon the Hungarian Government to prevent it from falling completely under Ger-quan influence.

It seems that the initiative is one without precedent. Its object is to awaken the powerful sense of national honour in Hungary and to make more difficult the task of the Government in signing the pact. The signature has been promised but not yet effected.

Observers believe that it is also a warning to Poland.

Diplomatic quarters are keenly awaiting Hungary's reaction, and expect some opposition to Germany's push towards the East.

It is pointed out that the initiative was taken concurrently with the ministerial reshuffle in Rumania, destined to prevent the activities of the pro-Nazi Iron Guard. The two moves were provoked by the threat of German penetration in Ukraine.—Havas.
