When the findings of the World Telecommunications Conference recently held in Egypt have been ratified by the respective governments the following short wave bands will be available for radio broadcasts:—50-48.9m.; 41.67-41.1m.; 31.56-30.93m. 25.64-25.21m,; 1987-1954m. 16.88- 1681m.; and 13.99-13.79m. By this allocation, the broadcasting band will gain 2 me/s in the 13m. band (2145- 21.75 mc/s); 1 m/e in the 31-metre band (9.5-9.7 mc/s); and 1 m/c in the 41-metre band (7.2-7.3 me/s). On the other hand, amateur experimental transmitters will see their exclusive bands slightly decreased, worse luck. The actual] allotment of channels will be discussed and decided upon in respect to the European stations at a further conference to be held in Switzerland next January.
