Blois, June 26.
France is still loyal to the principles of the League of Nations including that of collective security, the French Vice-Premier M. Camille Chautemps, declared today in a speech made at the banquet given at the closing of the Loir-et-Cher Radical-Socialist Departmental Federation, last night. France must nevertheless ensure her own defence by military reinforcement and by diplomatic action owing to the "painful back-stepping of international institutions."
Outlining France's diplomatic programme, M. Chautemps stressed that it consisted of loyalty to her alliances, particularly close and constant cooperation with Great Britain, the defence of her treaties, even with j Soviet Russia, and a constant effort to group all sincerely peace-loving people around the great democracies.
The Vice-Premier then turned to matters of domestic policy.
