Jerusalem, July 8.

HE 7,550-ton cruiser, H.M.S. Emerald, arrived at Haifa 3.30 yesterday afternoon, having been diverted from Mall where she was due to arrive on July 10, on her way home England. The cruiser was ordered to Haifa because of the of outrages reported to have occurred there recently.

Contr; to expectations, however, the Emerald did not land marines night, although the senior naval officers went ashore and inspe the neighbourhood of Tuesday night's outrages.

Tt was understood that the inspection was preliminary to the naval authorities assuming control of the area, which is regarded as Haifa's}. danger zone owing to the proximo ity of the Arab market quarter and several mosques.

Jews Blamed Yesterday afternoon, the High Commissioner interviewed the President and other members of the Arab National Defence Party, who had protested against the recent outbreaks of violence, for which they blamed the Jews, and expressed con-stomation at the present state of insecurity.

It is learned that the battle cruiser Repulse (32,000 tons) will relieve H.M.S. Emerald, which will leave for home as soon as the Repulse arrives at Haifa.

H.M.S. Emerald, which belongs to the 4th Cruiser Squadron, East Indies, was diverted when she was near the Suez Canal—Reuter.
